Here is Coatings World’s weekly recap of the most-viewed news stories on our site for the week ending September 5, 2026.
First up this week, AkzoNobel and Axalta announced that Stephan B. Tanda, Denise C. Johnson, and Robert Schuchna serve as non-executive Directors, finalizing the combined company board. Next, AkzoNobel inaugurated a new €7.5 million innovation lab at its Sassenheim site in the Netherlands, strengthening the company’s largest global R&D center. Stahl introduced its expanded Sensora portfolio: a range of high-performance haptic coatings designed to help brands create distinctive tactile packaging experiences. Also, PPG announced the launch of the PPG ONE RANGE portfolio of five one-component marine coatings at the SMM 2026 maritime industry trade fair in Hamburg, Germany. Lastly, Surventis, formerly BASF Coatings, has entered into a strategic development and collaboration agreement with AUMOVIO to advance microstructured optical films for automotive applications distributed under its Chemetall brand.
